VIZ Media has licensed Yasuhisa Hara’s Kingdom, a long-running series that the publisher said on social media is “our most fan-requested title ever.” Although this will be the first official English-language release for the manga, the anime adaptation is available on Crunchyroll and the live-action films stream on Netflix. VIZ will publish the first volume on November 11, 2025, with an MSRP of $14.99.
Kingdom is set in China during the Warring States Era and follows the trajectory of Li Xin, a war orphan who overcomes numerous trials and enemies to become the general who unites the fractured regions into a single kingdom. The seinen series launched in 2006 in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump and is up to 74 volumes so far, and it has been one of the top 10 best-selling manga series in Japan for the past decade. It won the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize grand prize in 2013, and it also has another distinction: It holds the Guinness World Record for most contributors to a manga series, thanks to the “Social Kingdom” campaign in which the 26th volume was completey redrawn by fans and professional artists, including Vagabond creator Takehiko Inoue, One Piece’s Eiichiro Oda, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga-ka Hirohiko Araki.
VIZ announced several other new fall titles on social media, including Star Wars: Path of the Lightsaber, by Kenny Ruiz; Assassin’s Creed: Forgotten Temple, a sequel to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag; a Twisted-Wonderland box set; and a cookbook based on Hayao Miyazake’s film Castle in the Sky.
The publisher also announced a number of new titles two weeks ago (see “Viz Announces New Junji Ito, ‘Nana’ Omnibus”).
