Hasbro: January Marvel Legends Sorta Livestream Press Photos and Thoughts

The first Marvel Legends livestream of the year started off with some funky technical difficulties that showed us all how live this stream isn’t just in case you didn’t already know. But that’s not really important when you show off a lot of cool stuff. I don’t really follow rumors for Legends, so these all could be old news to everybody but me, but I enjoyed myself once the new video was uploaded.

The first new reveal was a personal favorite as I’m a big fan of the first X-Factor run with X-Terminators Jean Grey. She’s on the super-articulated body and I like they represented a couple different styles of her hood. The TK blast effect is a small, but versatile piece going by the photos, though it looks like you need to poster tack that on for the hooded head. I just love the faces and the inkjets on these. She’s Target exclusive on a retro card and will be available Spring 2025. They didn’t have pre-order times for her yet.

Next up they finished off a team with the No Way Home Electro. I think he looks great with all the effects pieces, I just wish he had a non-powered head. He’s at the deluxe price point too, 34.99 releases in so it feels like he should have that. He goes up for pre-order 1/30/2025 at pulse and participating retailers for a Spring release.

Next up is a sort of new style of figure, the Maximum figure. This Spidey is new from the ground up and features enhanced articulation and a bunch of accessories. I was especially impressed with the range on those ball joints at the neck since that has been kinda crappy lately from Hasbro. The impression I got was that it’s the domestic version of a figuarts or MAFEX release. Spidey looks good to me in these action shots, but I can’t help but fixate on what they didn’t say, the price. Usually when I’m not told the price it’s because I’m not going to like it. The overall look kind of makes me think of Erik Larsen’s Spidey, which is cool, but I’d much prefer a John Romita take. He looks to have really good drop-down hips, but I wonder if he can stand straight up very well because because sometimes that can give them a bowlegged look when vanilla posed.

Next they showed off their comic figures wave. Basically it’s a retro card style packaging, but not hearkening back to any particular card (so no BAF) for $24.99. These are going up for pre-order February 6 and will hit in Spring. ROM was shown off and he’s looking great with a pretty effective ab crunch and some bright and shiny silver paint. I can’t tell for sure if the top of the body swivels, but it looks like it might be the low ab crunch, mid-torso wobble articulation in these shots. I also like how they printed the sort of laser light shine effect on the eyes and I cannot wait to get a hold of this guy. Maybe I should start customizing some Dire-Wraiths now…

These figures come with a plastic comic book accessory with a printed cover. It’s a cute idea that I’m not sure I’ll use. The Ultimate Spider and Iron Men are also coming in this line. They look like fine figures, I just didn’t happen to read those books and have so many Iron and Spider men that I can pass on these not favorite iterations. Miles gets in some impressive poses here though, so I may get him and purge the many, many other Miles figures I have and just keep this one. The Iron Man is a really nicely detailed figure too, darn it.

Adam Warlock looks like a solid update to the original. I don’t think I ever got that one, so I’ll need him. I have the modern one, but maybe I can ditch him now.

Daken is a character I’ve read enough about over the years to warrant a purchase. I don’t have the original, but if I did that old bullseye-ish base body would need replacing. The faces here are especially nice.

Finally, my favorite bit of news is the inevitable re-paint of the recent Banshee figure in classic colors. Man, that is nice to get checked off the list and get a proper Giant-Size display completed.
