It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly two years since Ash Ketchum entered the sunset. Since then, almost an entire season of Pokemon Horizons has aired. Season 2 is due next year, continuing an anime franchise that has been running nonstop for over 26 years.
Two years ago, Pokemon executives finally decided to retire their primary protagonist of over twenty-five years. Ash Ketchum, the trainer legions of fans grew up with, finally was allowed to show his full potential. He defeated trainers like Cynthia and Leon to become the Pokemon World Champion, the best trainer in the world.
Pokemon then created a new anime series titled Pokemon Horizons, starring Liko and Roy. Fans have received the new characters well despite the loss of Ash Ketchum. In another change, the new series is a mystery format. It centers on a mysterious pendant worn by Liko. This leads to a race to solve its mysteries between Liko and a mysterious group called the Explorers.
Only a few days are left in 2024, meaning we are getting closer to its launch date. The Pokemon Company has announced that Season 2 will air in the USA on February 7th, 2025. Sadly though, the only way that it can be watched through a Netflix subscription.
