Niantic has detailed GO Battle League: Dual Destiny for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:
The new Season brings a new GO Battle League schedule, changes to attacks, and the return of GO Battle Week.
As one Season of the GO Battle League draws to a close, the next one is destined to take its place—starting December 3, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. PST, GO Battle League: Dual Destiny is bringing changes to attacks, the return of GO Battle Week, and the chance to claim your destiny in GO Battle League history!
Trainers should also note that the change to the switch timer made during the previous Season will continue into Dual Destiny, so Trainers will still have to wait 50 seconds before making another switch in battle.
It’s time to mark your calendars and start assembling your teams for the many exciting themed leagues that are taking place over the Dual Destiny Season! The schedule is as follows.

Trainers should expect to see some changes to select attacks during GO Battle League: Dual Destiny, including increased energy generation and slight damage increases. The following attacks will be updated for the new Season.
- Fire Fang’s energy generation increased
- Ice Fang’s energy generation increased
- Thunder Fang’s energy generation increased
- Bulldoze’s energy cost will decrease, and it will have the chance to lower an opponent’s Defense by one stage
- Fire Punch’s damage slightly increased
- Ice Punch’s damage slightly increased
- Rage Fist’s energy cost increased
Each new Season of the GO Battle League Season brings changes to Pokémon attack availability that can often make or break a team lineup’s viability in battle—in many cases, newly available attacks can make a Pokémon more viable within a specific league or in raids.
Starting during GO Battle League: Dual Destiny, the following Pokémon will be able to learn new attacks.
- Dragalge will be able to learn the Charged Attack Focus Blast
- Bibarel will be able to learn the Fast Attack Rollout
- Gliscor will be able to learn the Fast Attack Sand Attack
- Starmie will be able to learn the Fast Attack Psywave
- Starmie will be able to learn the Charged Attack Surf
Last but not least for the latest Season’s activities: GO Battle Week returns from January 21, 2025, at 12:00 a.m. to January 26, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. local time! Make the most of the GO Battle League during GO Battle Week, with the maximum number of sets Trainers can play per day increases from five to 20—that’s a whopping total of 100 battles per day! Trainers will also benefit from 4× Stardust from win rewards throughout the event. Free battle-themed Timed Research will also be available during the event, with rewards including shoes for your avatar, inspired by Dark-type Trainer and member of Unova’s Elite Four, Grimsley.

GO Battle League: Dual Destiny will start on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8).

GO Battle League Timed Research Pass
For our most dedicated battlers, a pass to access battle-themed Timed Research will be available in the in-game shop at no cost once GO Battle League: Dual Destiny begins.
This Timed Research will keep track of your victories throughout the Season. Each research page will require 100 wins to complete, and doing so will award Stardust and items such as Rare Candy XL, an Elite Fast TM (at 400 wins), and an Elite Charged TM (at 500 wins). Keep at it throughout the Season to see how far you can get!
Avatar Items and Other Rewards
Trainers will be able to earn the following avatar items, which are all inspired by Grimsley, a member of the Unova Elite Four, from the Pokémon Black and Pokémon White video games!
- At Ace rank, you’ll receive shoes inspired by Grimsley.
- At Veteran rank, you’ll receive pants inspired by Grimsley.

The switch timer in the GO Battle League will continue to be 50 seconds. This change will also continue to affect Trainer Battles against friends, Team GO Rocket battles, and team leader battles.
