RipCrypt Set to Simplify TTRPGs with Minimal Components and Streamlined Rules – Coming Soon to Kickstarter

Gritsilk Games has announced the launch of RipCrypt, a new tabletop role-playing game that combines fast-paced action with immersive storytelling. Designed for 1 to 8 players, RipCrypt is set in the Undergrade, a labyrinth of aqueducts, crypts, and catacombs beneath ancient ruins. Players will face a series of challenges, including hazards, traps, and lurking creatures, as they navigate this underground world in search of knowledge to escape and ascend to the Overgrade.

RipCrypt distinguishes itself with streamlined mechanics aimed at making gameplay both accessible and engaging. Gritsilk Games has crafted the game to be easy to learn, with character creation taking only a few minutes. The gameplay is designed to flow quickly, emphasizing smooth turns and fast combat resolution, which minimizes downtime. Despite its simplicity, RipCrypt offers a rich, atmospheric experience with original artwork that enhances the game’s dark and immersive world.

According to Gritsilk Games, RipCrypt aims to disrupt the TTRPG space by offering a game that does not rely on multiple components or extensive rulebooks. Instead, it focuses on a system that players can largely master and play from memory.

Gritsilk Games is offering a Prerelease Preview for RipCrypt, giving players the opportunity to explore the game with a free digital preview. This 80-page preview includes a portion of the RipCrypt Core Rulebook, featuring chapters on getting started, hero creation, and running delve and combat turns. It also includes tables for 32 skills, gear, and crafting, as well as six geist to populate the game’s catacombs. Additionally, print-and-play crypt cards for heroes, items, and enemies are available, along with a four-page quick reference guide to assist with gameplay.

The game will be launched on Kickstarter later this year, with early supporters able to choose between a physical core rulebook or a digital edition. The campaign will also offer additional content, including a limited foil cover edition and a game-keeper screen.
