Loot Studios, a company known for its 3D-printable miniatures, has announced the release of its first original miniatures card game, Malediction.
According to Loot Studios, Malediction allows players the option to either use the included standees or enhance their experience by 3D printing their own miniatures using pre-supported 3D files provided with the game.
The game places players in the role of Seekers, characters from four unique factions who compete to find powerful relics in a hostile region called Malediction. The game combines elements of tactical movement found in wargames with deck customization mechanics from trading card games (TCGs). The game’s lore was developed by New York Times best-selling author Tracy Hickman.
Steve Kimball, Publishing Studio Managing Director, highlighted the game’s replayability, noting that each match is unique due to the strategic depth of the gameplay.
“We were aiming not only at a rich lore but also at an innovative way of playing, and the miniatures card game (MCG) format was perfect for it, because it combines the movement strategy typical from wargames with the deck customization features from TCGs. To win the game, you must use your faction’s strengths to fight your opponents Units and capture relics to earn more victory points. And due to the high replayability levels, no match is ever the same”
Loot Studios will be presenting Malediction at Spiel Essen in Germany from October 3–6, where visitors can try free gameplay demos. The game will also be available soon on Gamefound, with additional content and expansions planned for the future.
