A new publication designed for tabletop role-playing game players is set to debut this fall, originally reported by Polygon. Horizons, a quarterly magazine offering new monsters, adventures, and other game content, will release its first issue on October 9. Created by a team of experienced industry professionals, including Hannah Rose and Clara Daly, the magazine aims to provide a variety of resources for tabletop gamers.
Rose and Daly, both established figures in the TTRPG community, bring a wealth of experience to the project. Rose has worked as an editor on well-known Dungeons & Dragons products like Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus and Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel, while Daly has contributed artwork to Critical Role’s Campaign 3. Together, they hope Horizons will serve as a platform to connect creators with players, offering fresh content for a range of game systems.
Each issue of Horizons will feature four primary articles, three of which will focus on content for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, with the fourth covering other popular TTRPG systems. The first issue will include articles for Pathfinder and Candela Obscur.
One example of the magazine’s content is an article on “Star Dragons,” a creature concept by space plasma physicist Imogen Gingell. Another piece, titled “Next Stop: Adventure,” by Erin Roberts, introduces a new form of rune-powered transportation in a science-fantasy setting.
In addition to its content, Horizons emphasizes fair compensation for contributors, a priority that Rose and Daly have made clear. The team also ensures that all material is thoroughly playtested to provide balanced and practical content for game masters.
The first issue of Horizons will be available starting October 9!
