Green Ronin Publishing has launched a crowdfunding campaign on BackerKit for a new edition of The Expanse Roleplaying Game, based on the novels by James S.A. Corey. The campaign introduces official Expanse miniatures for the first time, a notable addition to the game. Green Ronin has teamed up with Wargames Atlantic to offer two sets of multi-part hard plastic miniatures: the “Spaceship Crew” in 28mm scale and the “Ships of The Expanse” in 1/1000 scale. These miniatures provide players with new ways to engage with the universe, with potential future sets such as “Mercs & Marines” and “Belters” if the campaign reaches further goals.
This crowdfunding campaign also focuses on the Transport Union Edition of The Expanse RPG, an updated core rulebook that explores the 30-year span between the novels Babylon’s Ashes and Persepolis Rising. The edition includes expanded rules for character creation, technology, and spaceship combat, along with new options for adventures set during this time.
Alongside the core rulebook, the campaign offers three new supplements—Crew Companion, Daemon’s Gambit, and Free Navy Conflict—which provide additional content for both players and game masters. Other add-ons include dice sets from Q Workshop, virtual tabletop options for Roll20 and Foundry, and a variety of accessories like a Game Master’s kit and character dossiers.
The campaign has already surpassed its initial goal, with over $182,634 raised from 1,183 backers. There are still 28 days left before the campaign ends on October 17, giving backers time to secure exclusive content like the miniatures and other offerings. Delivery for all items is scheduled for Summer 2025.
