The Mists of Akuma campaign setting is making a return on Kickstarter, offering a significantly expanded and updated version of the Eastern fantasy noir steampunk world, nearly a decade after its initial release. This new campaign brings five new books to the table, including a remastered core setting book and a brand-new adventure path.
The centerpiece of the Kickstarter is an upgraded edition of the Mists of Akuma core book, which has doubled in size, now features full-color illustrations, and offers rebalanced stat blocks. New content includes items, archetypes, feats, and more. Both D&D 5E and 5.5E versions are available, catering to fans of both editions.
In addition to the remastered core book, the campaign introduces Beyond the Great Divide, a new 360-page adventure path that takes players on a journey across Soburin. The adventure includes a variety of scenarios, from aerial battles above Uso to thwarting rituals in the forests of Shinko, all the way to uncovering secrets beyond an elemental antimagic barrier.
The Kickstarter also features two volumes of encounters designed for characters from levels 1 to 20, packed with new maps, monsters, and NPCs to help Game Masters build engaging encounters. For those looking to explore a more apocalyptic theme, the 2099 Wasteland campaign setting generator adds a nuclear wasteland to the world of Mists of Akuma, complete with custom classes, new monsters, and rules for weapon crafting and exploration.
The campaign has already surpassed its funding goal and will run until October 19.
