The 2024 edition of the Dungeons & Dragons Player’s Handbook is now officially available as of today. While some game stores and D&D Beyond subscribers had early access to the book, it is now widely available both in digital format and in physical copies through major retailers.
This updated version of the handbook introduces several changes to the existing 5th Edition ruleset, though it is not considered a completely new edition of the game. Wizards of the Coast has implemented adjustments to character creation, spell rules, and other gameplay mechanics, aiming to refine the experience while maintaining the core elements of 5th Edition that players are familiar with.
Players can continue to use previous 5th Edition materials alongside the new handbook, with the exception of instances where the new rules directly replace older ones.
The release of the 2024 Player’s Handbook is part of a broader update to Dungeons & Dragons in celebration of the game’s 50th anniversary. Additional core rulebooks, including a revised Dungeon Master’s Guide and Monster Manual, are set to release on November 12, 2024, and February 18, 2025, respectively.
The 2024 Player’s Handbook is currently available for purchase for $49.99 through various retailers, including Amazon.
