Sailor Moon has been a mainstay of anime and manga for decades now, and if you’re looking to explore the beginnings of this popular series, you will want to check out the upcoming Sailor Moon: Naoko Takeuchi Collection manga box set launching on November 12.
Preorder Sailor Moon: Naoko Takeuchi Collection Box Set
$62 ($78)
The Sailor Moon: Naoko Takeuchi Collection Box Set includes hardcover editions of the first six volumes of the original manga series, plus an exclusive set of 16 art cards. The entire set is packaged in a holographic box adorned with metallic silver ink. Preorders are available now, and so far, Crunchyroll has the best price for the collection at $62, but you can also preorder at Amazon for $70 (was $78). Chances are Amazon will drop the price to match Crunchyroll’s closer to the set’s November 12 launch, and thanks to Amazon’s preorder price guarantee, you will only pay the lowest price and will only be charged once the order ships.
Like the popular anime series it inspired, the Sailor Moon manga follows Usagi, an average teenager who one day meets a talking cat, gains super powers, and begins a journey of self-discovery. Sailor Moon became a sales juggernaut throughout its original run in the 90s. It’s one of the best-selling manga of all time, eclipsed only by the likes of One Piece and Tokyo Ghoul, and it also had several popular anime series based on it. It’s also cited as one of the most influential franchises, helping give rise to the popular “Super Girl” genre of anime and manga. This new Sailor Moon: Naoko Takeuchi Collection Manga Box Set looks to be an excellent way for new fans to check out the series, or for established fans to add the full manga run to their collection.
Sailor Moon Eternal Edition manga
If you don’t want to wait for the new full series box set to read the Sailor Moon manga, you can also grab the Sailor Moon Eternal Editions. The Eternal Editions manga features an all-new translation and reprints of the original art on larger pages than standard manga. You can grab 12 volumes of Sailer Moon Eternal Edition–which includes the original 10 Sailor Moon volumes and the two Codename: Sailor V prequel volumes–in paperback editions at Amazon.
Sailor Moon Crystal Blu-rays
Sailor Moon has received numerous anime adaptations over the years, the most recent being Sailor Moon Crystal. The series ran for three seasons from 2014 to 2016, and you can grab limited edition Blu-rays of all three seasons at Amazon. The show was followed up with two sequel films, Sailor Moon Eternal and Sailor Moon Cosmos, in 2021 and 2023, respectively, both of which are available to stream on Netflix.
More manga box set deals
Along with the upcoming Sailor Moon box set, there are some other great new releases for manga fans to check out. If you’re curious to check out more manga that inspired popular anime series, The Delicious in Dungeon manga is also getting a massive box set later this year on December 10. The collection will include all 14 volumes of Ryoko Kui’s beloved fantasy dungeon crawl. Preorders are available at Amazon for $202 (was $225).
You can also pick up Nausicaa’s deluxe manga box set from Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki for $53 (was $80) and enjoy two hardcover books totaling 1,104 pages. Compared to the movie adaptation, the Nausciaa manga is a much grander tale, with the movie covering roughly the first 14 chapters of the full 59-chapter run. The Trigun Deluxe Edition is also on sale for $35 (was $50). The 700-page hardcover book collects Trigun volumes 1 and 2.
Finally, on the video game side, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Complete Box Set preorders are discounted from $130 to $117 at Amazon and $104 at the Crunchyroll Store ahead of its release on September 24. This collection includes the full 11-volume manga adaptation of the classic Zelda game’s storyline, plus a double-sided poster and a sleek collector’s box featuring illustrations by artist Akira Himekawa.
