Dynamax Pokémon

  • Dynamax is a phenomenon that causes Pokémon to appear much larger, surrounded by a mysterious red glow and swirling clouds overhead.
  • Pokémon with the ability to Dynamax can be encountered, battled, and caught through Max Battles. Dynamax Pokémon can be found in the wild at Power Spots throughout the map.
  • Partner with your own Dynamax Pokémon in order to defeat Power Spot Bosses! Select one of your Dynamax Pokémon and use Candy and Max Particles to unlock Max Moves, and level up the moves for stronger effects! Working on Max Moves will award XP.
  • Dynamax Pokémon can learn up to three Max Moves: an attack, Max Spirit, and Max Guard.
  • While a Pokémon is Dynamaxed, their first Max Move is a powerful attack that’s based on the type of their Fast Attack.
  • Max Spirit heals both the Pokémon that used it and their allies.
  • Max Guard reduces damage taken from an opposing Power Spot Boss.

Max Particles

  • Max Particles, now appearing throughout the world, are mysterious energy found concentrated at Power Spots, enabling Dynamax Pokémon to transform.
  • Trainers can collect Max Particles by scouting out and interacting with Power Spots. Extra Max Particles can be found when engaging with a Power Spot for the first time each day.
  • Trainers can also collect Max Particles in the wild each day by exploring, including with Adventure Sync. Keep an eye on the Nearby menu to collect them!
  • Trainers can only store a certain amount of Max Particles, with a limit on how many they can collect per day.
  • Trainers can also visit the in-game shop or web store for packs that contain Max Particles.

Power Spots

  • Power Spots are volatile locations that emit Max Particles. They may even contain Dynamax Pokémon that you can take on in Max Battles. These locations also enable your own Dynamax Pokémon to Dynamax!
  • Be sure to scout out Power Spots in your community! With the mysterious nature of Max Particles, Power Spots may not stay in the same location for long. Keep an eye out for changes in your surroundings before embarking on your daily adventures!

Dynamax Max Battles

  • Any Trainer with at least one Dynamax Pokémon in their battle party can take on Max Battles at select Power Spots. Up to four Trainers can band together to increase their chance of success! Only Dynamax Pokémon can be used in Max Battles, so be sure to complete the “To the Max!” Special Research to catch your first few Dynamax Pokémon!
  • Each Trainer must use a certain amount of Max Particles to engage in battle, depending on the power of the Power Spot Boss. Don’t be discouraged! Max Particles are only used up when you successfully take down the boss, so keep pushing towards victory!
  • In a Max Battle, tap the screen to use Fast Attacks, and build up energy to use Charged Attacks as usual. Attacking will also fill up the meter at the top of the screen.
  • Keep an eye on the meter! Once it’s full, your Pokémon will Dynamax for 3 turns!
  • Swipe to dodge attacks from the opposing Power Spot Boss. A prompt will appear over your Pokémon if the boss is targeting you, so be ready to dodge!
  • If you spot energy icons on the battlefield, swipe to collect them and fill up your meter even faster!
  • If all of your Pokémon faint while battling a three-star or higher Power Spot Boss, you still have a fighting chance! You can cheer for your teammates so that their meters fill faster.

Max Battle Rewards

Max out rewards! Defeating a Power Spot Boss will net you rewards. Trainers can use PokéCoins to upgrade their rewards to receive even more!

Rare Candy

XP

Premier Balls

  • Upon victory, Trainers can place one of the Pokémon from their battle party at that Power Spot to earn Candy and give future Trainers a damage bonus! Rewards are sent to Trainers upon their Pokémon’s return from the Power Spot, which happens either after they assist in enough Max Battles or after a Power Spot closes.
  • The more Pokémon that are placed at the Power Spot, the bigger the attack bonus for other Trainers taking on the Power Spot Boss! Plus, more Pokémon placed at the Power Spot may also increase the chances of a wild encounter around the Power Spot.
  • Trainers can only station a limited number of Pokémon at Power Spots, and each Power Spot can contain a limited amount of Pokémon total from different Trainers.
  • Trainers will encounter the Power Spot Boss and have a chance to catch it! Watch as your PokéBall temporarily powers up to throw!
