Green Ronin Publishing Releases “Trades of the Expanse: Pirate” for The Expanse RPG

Green Ronin Publishing has launched a new addition to their line of sourcebooks for The Expanse Roleplaying Game, titled “Trades of the Expanse: Pirate.” The book is now available for purchase through Green Ronin’s Online Store and DriveThruRPG.

Written by Expanse RPG veteran Jason Mical, “Trades of the Expanse: Pirate” looks into the life and operations of pirates in the universe of The Expanse. Mical’s narrative suggests that piracy, one of the oldest professions in the universe, thrives wherever there are valuable goods to be commandeered—whether on the oceans of Earth or the vastness of space.

For players of The Expanse RPG, the book is not just about turning their characters into pirates. It includes a variety of scenarios such as becoming pirate hunters, operating a salvaged pirate ship, or navigating the complex role of privateers—pirates operating under government sanction during wartime. The section on privateering details how player characters can obtain a letter of marque, ensuring they are officially sanctioned to seize enemy vessels, and how to ensure they get paid for their exploits.

Additionally, “Trades of the Expanse: Pirate” introduces new elements to the game, including four new ships designed specifically for piracy. One standout is the Warvette, a Martian Corvette-class ship modified for aggressive boarding and looting operations. The book also integrates new tools like the MaTEY program for ship computers, which helps identify valuable cargo ships, adding a layer of strategic planning for players..

Green Ronin also teased their upcoming “The Expanse RPG – Transport Union Edition” crowdfunder set to launch on September 10th on Backerkit. This new edition will include the updated core rulebook, which is fully compatible with previous versions, along with several new books such as “The Free Navy Conflict,” “The Crew Companion,” and “Daemon’s Gambit,” an adventure series set during the era of the Transport Union.
