Stonemaier Games has announced a new expansion for its popular space bee strategy game, Apiary, called Apiary: Expanding the Hive. Set to launch on September 4, this expansion promises to enhance the core game with a variety of new components and strategic elements.
Designed by Connie Vogelmann and illustrated by Kwanchai Moriya, the expansion revisits the futuristic world of space beekeeping. It introduces new hive mats, unique frames, and seed cards, adding depth and complexity to the gameplay. The expansion also includes updates to several game components and a new faction, enriching the strategic options available to players.
All new game components are designed to fit within the original game’s insert, using recyclable packaging to minimize environmental impact. Additionally, the expansion is accompanied by a comprehensive appendix that integrates seamlessly with the core game’s rules, eliminating the need to switch between multiple books to reference new and existing game elements.
The launch of Expanding the Hive will coincide with the release of another Stonemaier game, Stamp Swap, both of which will be available first on the Stonemaier Games webstore. Following the online release, Expanding the Hive will be featured at Essen Spiel and is expected to arrive in retail stores in late October.
