Kitchen Chaos Brings Culinary Competition to Kickstarter

Blob World Games, a game development studio based in Westland, Michigan, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for their new board game, Kitchen Chaos. This competitive cooking-themed game challenges two to four players to compete in a medieval kitchen setting. Players must gather ingredients, prepare dishes, and serve food to customers, all while navigating the limited space and dealing with unexpected twists.

What sets Kitchen Chaos apart is the addition of trap cards, which introduce an element of strategy and unpredictability. These traps can be placed at cooking stations to slow down opponents or trigger special abilities that can shift the balance of the game. The traps feature a variety of quirky themes, from a pardoned turkey that interferes with ingredients to a multiverse-disturbing avocado, adding humor and excitement to each round.

The game was designed by Richard Wu of Blob World Games, inspired by popular cooking-themed media like Overcooked and Hell’s Kitchen. After its initial conception in early 2023, Kitchen Chaos underwent extensive playtesting, including at the First Exposure Playtest Hall at Gen Con 2023. The game has also been showcased at major board gaming conventions, such as Origins Game Fair and Gen Con, where it received positive feedback from players.

For those looking for a light-hearted, easy-to-learn board game with a cooking theme, Kitchen Chaos offers a mix of strategy and fun. The Kickstarter campaign is currently active, with a funding goal of $5,000. As of now, the campaign has raised $929 from 25 backers, with 28 days remaining until it ends on September 24.
