Bo Jackson Battle Arena, Inc. will release Bo Jackson Battle Arena, a new TCG with radioactive Hot Dog cards, into retail on November 29, 2024.
Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Royals, and Oakland Raiders two-sport legend Bo Jackson is bringing his baseball bat-snapping skills to the tabletop with a new fighting TCG. This product is the first to bring on-card athlete autographs to a TCG. The Alpha Edition of this game features all kinds of different parallels, autographs, and foil card treatments that come in every case. The game also has serialized cards, which include 1-of-1 superfoils, as well as Inspired Ink autographs that showcase athletes like Steve Young, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Marcus Allen, and more. The SKUs for the first set include Blaster Packs, Collector Boosters, Hobby Boxes, Jumbo Hobby Boxes, a Release Day Bundle, and a entry level Trainer Kit.
The game, itself, has three modes of play: Rookie mode, Substitution mode, and Playmaker mode. Rookie mode is a suped-up version of the classic card game of war with seven Battle Arena Heroes on each side of the arena that compare each other’s stats to see who wins the fight.
Substitution mode adds more strategy to the game, in the form of radioactive Hot Dog cards (which are the source of the Heroes power) and a Bench of four Hero cards. When the Hero cards are revealed in gameplay, the players can pay Hot Dog cards as energy to play different Heroes from their Bench to win the battle.
Playmaker mode, which is the “full version” of the game, adds a Playbook deck to the game. Cards from the Playbook deck are essentially action cards kept in a separate hand. These cards can be played for their Hot Dog cost, and augment a Hero’s ability in the battle. For each mode, the goal is the same: win the most battles (4 of 7) to win the game.
