Exclusive: DSTLRY Launching Feature for Digital Autographs and Sketches on their Comics

Comic publisher and physical-digital collectibles company DSTLRY is launching two new patent-pending features at San Diego Comic-Con, for digital autographs and sketches on their comics, and for on-the-spot ownership verification.

DSTLRY Remarques allows creators to sign and sketch on digital editions of DSTLRY comic issues and books, creating completely individualized and re-sellable collectibles.  In a real-life interaction, customers can display a code from their DSTLRY library, creators can scan the code and sign the comic on a tablet in front of the customer.  The signed version is recorded on DSTLRY servers, and displayed when the comic is read.  Signings for digital comics will be held at the DSTLRY booth during the show.

After the show, DSTLRY will roll out the sketch feature, which will allow full-color sketches on sketch covers of its digital comics.

DSTLRY Proof is a way for consumers to verify their ownership of a particular comic in order to qualify them for purchase of a related collectible.  The collectible being sold at the show, a limited edition vinyl Mominu x Somna art toy designed by Junko Mizuno, will be sold to consumers that can verify via the Proof feature that they own digital copies of DSTLRY titles Somna or The Devil’s Cut on the DSTLRY digital platform.  Sales will be limited to 20 pieces per day at the show.

“DSTLRY Remarques and DSTLRY Proof exemplify our mission to merge the traditional comic experience with groundbreaking digital advancements,” DSTLRY co-founder David Steinberger said in a statement accompanying the announcement.  “These features not only enhance the collector’s experience but also ensure that our creators are continuously supported through perpetual royalties via our digital marketplace.”

DSTLRY launched its digital Marketplace, where digital copies of its comics and collectibles can be bought and sold by collectors, with a royalty on each sale going to the creator, in May (see “DSTLRY Opens Marketplace“).
