Nintendo creates handy guide on the four seasonal events happening in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet featuring special Tera Raid Battles and Mass Outbreaks

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are now available for Nintendo Switch. Read on below to learn more about Tera Raid Battles:

Get ready for a four-part series of seasonal events featuring special Tera Raid Battles and mass outbreaks from Friday, July 12, 2024, at 00:00 UTC to Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 23:59 UTC.

Throughout the season, you’ll be able to challenge Tera Pokémon with the Mightiest Mark, encounter Pokémon that don’t normally appear during regular gameplay, and enjoy mass outbreaks where Pokémon that are Shiny or have special marks are more likely to appear!

Details for each event will be announced as they become available. For now, get an overview of each one below.

Pikachu with the Mightiest Mark will be making its return to 7-star Tera Raid Battles! The Pikachu appearing during this event has Water as its Tera Type.

If you caught this special Pikachu with the Mightiest Mark previously during a Tera Raid Battle event, you cannot catch it again.

During this event, look for mass outbreaks of Pichu throughout Paldea, mass outbreaks of Pikachu and Mimikyu throughout Kitakami, and mass outbreaks of Raichu and Alolan Raichu throughout Blueberry Academy. Alolan Raichu cannot normally be encountered during regular gameplay, and Shiny Pokémon are more likely to appear in these special mass outbreaks!

Part 1 Event Schedule

Friday, July 12, 2024, at 00:00 UTC to Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 23:59 UTC

Dondozo with the Mightiest Mark will be making its 7-star Tera Raid Battle debut! The Dondozo appearing during this event has Water as its Tera Type.
During this event, look for mass outbreaks of Curly Form Tatsugiri throughout Paldea, mass outbreaks of Droopy Form Tatsugiri throughout Kitakami, and mass outbreaks of Stretchy Form Tatsugiri throughout Blueberry Academy. Shiny Pokémon are more likely to appear in these special mass outbreaks!

Part 2 Event Schedule

Friday, July 26, 2024, at 00:00 UTC to Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 23:59 UTC

Celebrate the 2024 Pokémon World Championships with Pokémon featured in the event’s key art!

Chest Form Gimmighoul will be appearing in 1- to 5-star Tera Raid Battles. These Chest Form Gimmighoul will have various Tera Types. If you challenge one in a 5-star Tera Raid Battle, you’ll have a small chance to encounter a Shiny Chest Form Gimmighoul, which doesn’t normally appear during regular gameplay!

During this event, look for mass outbreaks of Wattrel throughout Paldea, mass outbreaks of Riolu throughout Kitakami, and mass outbreaks of Comfey throughout Blueberry Academy. Shiny Pokémon are more likely to appear in these special mass outbreaks. Pokémon appearing in these special mass outbreaks are also more likely to have the Pumped-Up Mark!

Part 3 Event Schedule

Friday, August 9, 2024, at 00:00 UTC to Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 23:59 UTC

Dragonite with the Mightiest Mark will be appearing for the first time in 7-star Tera Raid Battles! The Dragonite appearing during this event has Normal as its Tera Type.

During this event, look for mass outbreaks of Larvitar and Bagon throughout Paldea, mass outbreaks of Goomy and Hisuian Sliggoo throughout Kitakami, and mass outbreaks of Beldum throughout Blueberry Academy. Hisuian Sliggoo cannot normally be encountered during regular gameplay, and Shiny Pokémon are more likely to appear in these special mass outbreaks. Pokémon appearing in these special mass outbreaks are also more likely to have the Charismatic Mark!

Part 4 Event Schedule

Friday, August 23, 2024, at 00:00 UTC to Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 23:59 UTC

In a Tera Raid Battle, you’ll work together with three other Trainers to defeat a powerful Tera Pokémon before time runs out. The kinds of Pokémon encountered during Tera Raid Battle events will vary. Pokémon encountered in Tera Raid Battles may have a rare Tera Type.

Check the Poké Portal for more information about what Pokémon are appearing in Tera Raid Battles.

• To participate in Tera Raid Battle events, please download the latest Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News. You do not need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to receive the latest Poké Portal News.
• After completing certain postgame events, you’ll be able to find black Tera Raid crystals. However, players who haven’t completed these events may still participate in these Tera Raid Battles by joining other Trainers in multiplayer.
• You’ll be able to find 5-star Tera Raid Battles after completing Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet’s main story. If you haven’t completed the main story, you may still participate in these Tera Raid Battles by joining other Trainers in multiplayer.
• A paid Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) is required to participate in Tera Raid Battles with other Trainers online. Terms apply. Learn more at https://www.nintendo.com/switch-online.
• Tera Raid Battle events will occur only in the Paldea region.

Mass outbreaks are a phenomenon in which many of the same species of Pokémon appear in one location. During limited-time mass outbreak events, certain Pokémon will become more likely to appear.

Check the Poké Portal for more information about what Pokémon are appearing in mass outbreak events.

• In order to participate in limited-time mass outbreak events, you need to have downloaded the latest update data and the latest Poké Portal News. You do not need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to receive the latest Poké Portal News.
• You can download the latest Poké Portal News by selecting Poké Portal from the X menu, then Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News.

The first part of a season-long, four-part event in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet begins with a lot of shocking battles.

Aseason full of fun awaits you in the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games with a series of special Tera Raid Battles and mass outbreaks occurring from Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 4:59 p.m. PDT. During this four-part event, you’ll be able to challenge Tera Pokémon with the Mightiest Mark, encounter Pokémon that don’t normally appear during regular gameplay, and enjoy mass outbreaks where Pokémon that are Shiny or have special marks are more likely to appear.

The event kicks off with a celebration of Pikachu and friends, which takes place from Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 4:59 p.m. PDT. During this time, you’ll find Pikachu in Tera Raid Battles along with mass outbreaks of Pikachu, Raichu, Alolan Raichu, Pichu, and Mimikyu. Read on for more details about this and future events.

As this season-long event begins, Pikachu with the Mightiest Mark returns to black Tera Raid crystals. The Pikachu appearing during this event has Water as its Tera Type. Be prepared—this Pokémon is a formidable foe, and it’s got the Mightiest Mark to prove it! Work together with your friends to topple this powerful Tera Pokémon!

Whenever you see a sparkling pillar of light shining from a Tera Raid crystal, you can walk up to the crystal and interact with it to start a Tera Raid Battle with a Tera Pokémon. To find the Tera Pokémon featured in this event, you’ll also need to have downloaded the latest Poké Portal News. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Select Poké Portal in the X menu.
  2. Select Mystery Gift.
  3. Select Check Poké Portal News.

To challenge Water–Tera Type Pikachu with the Mightiest Mark, Trainers will need to either complete the postgame events that follow the main story or join a 7-star Tera Raid Battle hosted by a Trainer who has completed those events. This special Pikachu can be caught only once per save data. You can still participate in Tera Raid Battles against this Pikachu if you’ve already caught it to obtain other rewards—including significant amounts of Exp. Candy for leveling up your Pokémon, treasures that can be sold at Pokémon Centers, items for improving your Pokémon’s stats, and Water Tera Shards for changing your Pokémon’s Tera Type.

Be warned: Pikachu is certain to put up a tough fight. You’ll be shocked at how many Pokémon you encounter during this event’s mass outbreaks. Look for Pikachu and friends in the following locations:

  • Paldea – Pichu
  • Kitakami – Pikachu and Mimikyu
  • Blueberry Academy – Raichu and Alolan Raichu

Alolan Raichu cannot normally be encountered during regular gameplay, and Shiny Pokémon are more likely to appear during these special mass outbreaks, so don’t miss your chance to find one.
