Berserk 1997 Anime On Blu-Ray Drops To Lowest Price Yet For Amazon Prime Day

We’re seeing a ton of excellent Blu-ray deals leading into Prime Day this week, but if you’re looking for some real cultured entertainment, you can’t go wrong with the 1997 Berserk anime series on Blu-ray. The special edition for this cult-classic series has been discounted to its lowest price yet of $43.80 at Amazon (was $60). The first and second print runs sold out very quickly, and there’s a good chance that this latest run won’t be around for too long with this deal.

Adapted from Kentaro Miura’s legendary manga, Berserk tells the story of Guts and his eternal battle against demonic forces. Dark fantasy mixed with brutal violence, the anime series took some deviations from the source material but it was praised for how it handled the darker themes of Miura’s work. This is a limited-edition steelbook version of Berserk and it contains all 25 episodes from the series in high-definition. Both the Japanese and English language dubs are available on the disc, and all extras from previous releases have been included.

Many years later, a new Berserk anime would start over from scratch and was a more faithful adaptation. This trilogy of 2012-2013 films weren’t quite as good as the 1997 series as it mixed beautiful 2D animation with CGI to mixed results, but it’s still pretty decent! The Golden Age arc will be arriving on August 27, and this preorder has been discounted from $70 to $54. Like the 1997 show, this Blu-ray features both English and Japanese dubs, and for extras, you’ll get the textless opening and ending songs in the two-disc set.

Lastly, you can cap off your Berserk viewing with the absolute worst that the franchise has to offer. Berserk 2016 is infamous for its shoddy animation and plodding storytelling, with 24 episodes of visual pain. Are you brave enough to sit through all of them? Well if you’re ready to take on a challenge that not even Mr. Beast would attempt, you can get this Blu-ray for $45.50. If you dare.
