The Hollywood news is popping off like fireworks, and it is time for a round-up!
HBO has ordered the Lanterns series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The new series focuses in on Green Lantern characters John Stewart and Hal Jordan from the comics. Ozark’s Chris Mundy will be the showrunner, and the series will be penned by Damon Lindelof and Eiser-winner Tom King (see “Eisner Awards 2023“).
Warner Bros. has added an untitled Monsterverse film to their release schedule, according to Variety. The new film is slated for release on March 26, 2027 (see “Best in Shows — 2027“). This movie was added after Godzilla X Kong: A New Empire had a monster opening weekend in March (see “‘Godzilla x Kong’ a Monster“).
Amazon Prime Video released a trailer for Batman: Caped Crusader (see below). This series begins streaming on August 1, 2024 (see “‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ News“).
Sony Pictures announced that they are working on a new Street Fighter movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie, based on the popular video game series, will be co-developed and produced by Legendary and Capcom. It is scheduled to hit theaters on March 20, 2026 (see “Best in Shows — 2026“).
Ultraman Rising was the Netflix’s #2 movie in English worldwide, the streamer announced. The animated movie, first announced as part of Netflix’s 2024 anime slate (see “‘Ultraman’“), is ranked only behind Trigger Warning, and is in the top ten in 69 countries on the platform.
NBCUniversal is moving Resident Alien to USA Network from Syfy, according to Variety. The series, based on the Dark Horse comics (see “‘Resident Alien’ Picked Up“) and starring Alan Tudyk, was recently renewed for Season 4.
