Seven Seas to Publish Collectors Edition of ‘Rozen Maiden’

Seven Seas has acquired the license to the manga series Rozen Maiden, by Peach-Pit, as well as the sequel, and will publish both as a seven-volume collector’s edition in the same format as the 20th anniversary edition published in Japan.  Each omnibus volume will have over 400 pages and a larger trim size than most manga.  The first volume will be released in January 2025 with an MSRP of $25.99.

Rozen Maiden features a bullied teen Jun, who shuts himself off from the world and then is drawn into a survival game in which seven living porcelain dolls try to steal each others’ life-giving gems.  Jun is chosen to become the master of one of the dolls and together they battle the others.  The dolls are drawn in a Gothic Lolita style.

Peach-Pit is a two-woman manga team who are known for works with a cute, rounded style; their other series include DearS, Zombie-Loan, and Shugo Chara! (see “New ‘Shugo Chara!’ Manga”).

The original seven-volume series was published by Tokyopop in 2006 (see “Tokyopop Plans Seven Manga Launches”) and was a best-seller, but the sequel has never been published in English before.  The manga also was adapted into four anime television series which initially ran in English on Anime Network; three are currently available on Hidive.
