BOOM! Studios is doubling down on licensed comics, with the release of new comics tied to Labyrinth and Firefly in September.
Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, which BOOM! will release under its Archaia imprint, is planned as an 8-issue adaptation of the film’s novelization, by A.C.H. Smith. The comics, the first ever graphic adaptation of the film, will be adapted by Kyla Vanderklugt and artist Giorgio Spalletta. Main cover art is by Miguel Mercado, with variants by Elizabeth Torque and David Mack. The first issue will street on September 18 at $4.99 MSRP.
Firefly: Malcolm Reynolds Year One will tell the story of the early years of Captain Mal Reynolds, written by Sam Humphries with art by Giovanni Fabiano and colors by Gloria Martinelli. The cover art is by Suspiria Vilchez, with variant cover by Annie Wu. The comic will be released under the BOOM! imprint on September 4 at $7.99. BOOM! did not respond to requests for info on the page count of this title.
