Fantasy Flight Games has announced the re-release of “The Innsmouth Conspiracy,” now separated into two expansions: The Innsmouth Conspiracy Investigator Expansion and The Innsmouth Conspiracy Campaign Expansion. This update provides an entry point for new players and a completion opportunity for veteran collectors of Arkham Horror: The Card Game.
Set in the fictional town of Innsmouth, the story revolves around a mysterious plot that unfolds against a backdrop of strange sightings and rising water levels. Players start their adventure trapped in a pit, with no memory of prior events.
The Investigator Expansion features key characters including Sister Mary, a nun with high sanity and willpower, who uses bless tokens to enhance gameplay. These tokens help players during critical tests, and her character design encourages the strategic use of specific cards to maximize their effect.
Silas Marsh, another character in the expansion, is a sailor who can effectively manage skill cards to adapt to various challenges. His character allows for repeated use of skill cards, enhancing his effectiveness in combat and evasion tasks.
The Campaign Expansion contains all eight scenarios from the original “The Innsmouth Conspiracy” release. It emphasizes narrative progression through flashbacks that players can trigger, revealing the backstory and escalating the challenges they face. The campaign is designed to integrate these elements seamlessly, enhancing the interactive storytelling experience.
Both expansions are scheduled for release in the upcoming months, with The Innsmouth Conspiracy Investigator Expansion available in September and The Innsmouth Conspiracy Campaign Expansion in October. Pre-orders are currently open through local retailers and the Fantasy Flight Games webstore.
These expansions do not include new cards for those who have previously purchased the original “The Innsmouth Conspiracy” cycle but are intended to offer a structured and immersive experience for new players and collectors alike.
