“Apex,” a strategy board game designed by Julien Vaucanson, has recently been launched on Kickstarter. Aimed at 2 to 6 players, the game is set in an original science fiction universe where various civilizations compete for control through tactics of influence, technology, and warfare, while a shared enemy threatens the galaxy.
The game, designed to be played within 30-60 minutes, is targeted at players aged 10 and up, making it suitable for both family settings and experienced strategists. The gameplay is described as straightforward yet strategically profound, with minimal randomness influencing the outcomes.
The artwork for “Apex” has been illustrated by Veronique Meignaud, whose previous work includes contributions to major brands such as Magic: The Gathering and Ubisoft.
Additionally, “Apex” includes the “Outsiders” expansion, which offers options for solo and cooperative play, along with legacy elements that allow for a series of interconnected games. This expansion also introduces two new civilizations and an Enemy that players must collaborate to defeat.
The Kickstarter campaign allows backers to obtain “Apex” and the “Outsiders” expansion at a reduced price. Special incentives for early backers include an exclusive sector that utilizes a web application for game setup enhancements.
Currently, the campaign has raised $7,609 of its $21,756 goal with four days remaining until its conclusion on June 10.
