Scorpion Masque announced Festival, a new tile stacking game by Gregory Grard and Melody Leblond, which will head stores in fall 2024.
In Festival, players are tasked with coordinating the most spectacular fireworks display for their respective city. They will attempt to achieve a grand display by placing a Fireworks tiles on their turn or choosing an objective to complete. Players that achieve their objectives and stack their tile as high as possible will earn maximum points and help send their city to the top of the competitive fireworks display leaderboard.
“I wanted to make an objective-driven game that could be played by a wide audience,” said Grard of Festival. “One of my inspirations was the game Point Salad (see “Take a Trip Down to ‘Point City’”) with its brilliantly basic idea of simplicity: on my turn, I either take an objective, or I take a ‘resource’ to complete those objectives. I also wanted to emphasize another important element that I often try to incorporate into my creations: Variable levels of play. Festival is very simple to explain and can be played with the whole family, but it also offers a challenge for players who enjoy optimization.”
This game is for two to four players, ages 8 and up, and plays in 20 minutes. It will retail for $19.99.
