The 7th Citadel, a cooperative card-based exploration board game by French publisher Serious Poulp, is scheduled for a new Kickstarter campaign starting June 4. This follows a notably successful initial campaign in 2020, which attracted over 33,000 backers and raised in excess of $3.5 million.
The upcoming campaign marks the start of a dedicated partnership between Serious Poulp and Kickstarter, with all future projects from the publisher set to launch exclusively on the crowdfunding platform until 2026. Bruno Sautter, CEO of Serious Poulp, emphasized the significance of crowdfunding in the creation of large-scale board games and expressed confidence in this strategic collaboration.
The 7th Citadel, using a gameplay mechanism similar to its predecessor, The 7th Continent, allows players to explore and build the game board through terrain and event cards. The game introduces a new setting, “The Collapsing Lands,” a post-apocalyptic medieval world threatened by various perils, enhancing the narrative depth and expanding the gameplay mechanics.
New features for the game include an evolving world map, customizable Action decks, and the ability to develop a Citadel between scenarios, broadening the strategic options available to players.
