Free League Publishing has announced that “Replicant Rebellion,” an expansion for the Blade Runner: The Roleplaying Game, will be available for backing on Kickstarter starting May 28, 2024.
Located in the neon-noir setting of Los Angeles 2037, the expansion introduces a new narrative perspective within the Blade Runner universe. Players take on the roles of members of the Replicant Underground, diverging from the original game’s focus on hunting replicants. This role reversal adds a dynamic of evasion and conflict against societal authorities as players navigate complex challenges.
The expansion enables players to manage their own crews and engage in various operations that involve maintaining secrecy, dealing with law enforcement, and addressing internal betrayals. It also includes interactions with other groups and the broader corporate and legal environment, reflecting the ethical complexities of the setting.
The Kickstarter campaign will also offer an Asset Pack that includes both physical and digital resources for Game Runners to craft their own Case Files and Operations, aimed at enhancing gameplay.
The campaign is scheduled to start at 6:00 AM US Pacific Time on May 28. Prospective backers and retailers can sign up on the pre-launch page to receive notifications when the campaign goes live. Early backers will receive the PDF version of “Replicant Rebellion” several months before its retail release, with additional rewards available to those who pledge within the first 24 hours.
