‘Masters of the Universe’ Feature news; Live Action ‘Scooby-Doo’; ‘Knuckles,’ ‘Fallout’ in the Record Books; Trailers for ‘The Acolyte,’ ‘The Boys’ S4, and ‘The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish’

Hollywood news is heating up, and we round it up here.

The Masters of the Universe live-action feature has moved to Amazon MGM Studios, and a release date has been set as June 5, 2026 (see “Geek Movie Calendar – 2026”), according to Deadline.  The film was originally planned as a Netflix release (see “Masters of the Universe’ Live Action Feature”). The film, directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee) from a Chris Butler screenplay, is an origin story of He-Man. 

Netflix is developing a live action Scooby-Doo series in a one-hour drama format, with a script-to-series deal soon, according to Variety.  Josh Applebaum and Scott Rosenberg are attached to write the series, which is being produced by Warner Bros. television.  Among the executive producers is Greg Berlanti of longtime DC collaborator Berlanti Productions

Two shows entered the record books for their respective streaming services recently.  Knuckles, the new Sonic the Hedgehog series, was the most-watched Paramount+ original series of all time in its debut weekend, with over 4 million hours streamed.  Down the street, using a different metric, Fallout was the second most-watched title ever on Amazon’s Prime Video over its first 16 days, with 65 million viewers, according to VarietyFallout is the most-watched title on Prime Video since The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Disney+ has released the final trailer for Star Wars: The Acolyte, its new female-led series tarring Carrie-Anne Moss, Lee Jung-jae and others.  It takes places as the dark-side of the Force is emerging in the High Republic era. An earlier trailer was released in March (see “’The Acolyte’ Trailer”).

Amazon’s Prime Video has released a new trailer for The Boys Season 4. In the new season, Victoria Neuman is getting closer to the Oval Office, and Homelander is consolidating his power.  A teaser video was released last December (see ‘’’The Boys’ S4”).

Nicktoons has released a trailer for the Fairly OddParents sequel series, coming from Nicktoons on May 20.  The first season of The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish will run 20 half-hour episodes. Voice cast includes Ashleigh Crystal Hairston as Hazel Wells, joining The Fairly OddParents alums Daran Norris as the voice of Cosmo, and Susanne Blakeslee as the voice of Wanda. The original series, created by Butch Harmon, ran 172 episodes from 2001 to 2017.    Source: ICv2
