Wizards of the Coast has recently shared a new addition to their “Secret Lair” collection, featuring virtual singer Hatsune Miku. This release, titled “Secret Lair x Hatsune Miku: Sakura Superstar,” is the first in a series of four planned drops that incorporate elements of Japanese spring, such as cherry blossoms and lightning, into the card designs.
The set includes several Magic: The Gathering cards that have been artistically transformed to include imagery associated with Hatsune Miku. Artists such as Jehan Choo, Justyna Dura, Mandy Jurgens, Dani Pendergast, Yuko Shimizu, and 出利/SYUTSURI have contributed to the designs, merging traditional Magic card elements with thematic inspirations from Miku’s virtual performances.
This series of cards is available in both English and Japanese, reflecting the global reach of Hatsune Miku’s fan base. The pricing for the cards is set at $29.99 for the non-foil version and $39.99 for the rainbow foil version, targeting both collectors and fans of the virtual performer.
