Free League Publishing Set to Release Mutant Year Zero: Zone Wars

Free League Publishing has announced that Mutant Year Zero: Zone Wars, is set for release on June 4. This new game is designed for fast-paced miniature skirmishes within the popular post-apocalyptic setting of Mutant: Year Zero.

In Zone Wars, players command groups of mutant Stalkers venturing into a hazardous wasteland called the Zone, engaging in battles to claim artifacts from the Ancients. The game aims to blend survival strategies with high-stakes skirmishes, challenging players to either secure their territory or face defeat.

Developed by industry veterans including Andy Chambers and Tomas Härenstam, with Nils Karlén also contributing, the game features intricately designed 32mm miniatures by sculptors Alejandro Muñoz Martín and Daniel BlueIce. These miniatures come ready to play, with no assembly required and a factory-applied sundrop shading.

Accompanying the core game at launch, the Robots & Psionics expansion will introduce additional factions, broadening the gameplay options and supporting up to four players. This expansion integrates new elements, such as a group of self-aware robots and a secretive mutant cult with powerful psychic abilities, enhancing the strategic depth of the game.

The core set of Mutant Year Zero: Zone Wars is comprehensive, providing everything needed for two players, including detailed miniatures, playing cards, custom dice, a game mat, terrain pieces, a measuring ruler, and a rulebook that encompasses various scenarios, campaign rules, character generation, and solo play options.

The game mechanics are straightforward but offer dynamic and engaging gameplay, reflective of the dice pool system used in the Mutant: Year Zero RPG. This allows for a seamless integration of RPG elements and characters into the tabletop skirmishes, making for a cohesive gaming experience across both formats.
