New Game from ‘Turing Company’ Designers, Heavy Euro in 15,000 BCE, Viking Plunder Game, Video Game Adaptation, More

Hachette will release a new game from the designers of Turing Machine, a heavy Euro set in 15,000 BCE, a Viking plunder game, and have teased a video game adaptation for Q3.

Kronologic: Paris 1920, from Super Meeple, is a new deduction game designed by Fabien Gridel and Yoann Levet, the designers of Turing Machine (see “Board Game Sales”). Set at the Paris Opera, it’s planned as the first in a series.  It includes three puzzles, each of which has five solutions at varying difficulty levels. Players must find the who, where, and when of a crime; the first to find the solution wins the game.  It’s for 2-4 players, ages 10 and up, and plays in 30 minutes.  It will be released in August at $24.99 MSRP.

Doggerland, from Super Meeple, is a tile and worker placement game designed by Laurent Guilbert and Jerome D. Snowrchoff.  It’s set at around 15,000 BCE in a fertile land now covered by the English Channel.  Players compete with rival clans to grow their populations, create objects and art, raise megaliths, and achieve objectives, with penalties for hunger, lack of tools, etc. The winning clan is the one that leaves evidence of its existence for future centuries, as calculated by a point system.  It’s for 1-4 players (solo mode does not use points) ages 14 and up and plays in about 30 minutes per player.  Doggerland will be released in August at $79.99 MSRP.

In Looot, a Gigamic game designed by Charles Chevallier and Laurent Escoffier, Vikings plunder the almost undefended buildings of a deserted town to be crowned the next Jarl of the Vikings. It incorporates worker and tile placement, plus route and network building. Looot is for 2-4 players ages 10 and up, and plays in about 35 minutes.  It will be released in late August at $29.99 MSRP.

Hachette also teased Dead Cells, from Scorpion Masque, a cooperative deck-building dungeon-crawler based on the Dead Cells video game.  It’s designed by Antoine Bauza, Corentin Lebrat, Ludovic Maublanc, and Theo Riviere.  MSRP will be $84.99, with plans for a September release.

Hachette will release Middle Ages, from Splendor designer Marc Andre, in June (see “Marc Andre’s ‘Middle Ages’”).
