In a recent Twitch stream, Paizo Inc. revealed a series of new products related to the “War of Immortals” meta-event. The announcement highlighted a mix of upcoming rulebooks, adventures, and a novel, signifying Paizo’s re-entry into fiction publishing.
The livestream, hosted by Community Manager Jon Morgantini, featured Pathfinder’s design team, including Michael Sayre, James Jacobs, Mark Moreland, and Luis Loza. “We’ve been planning this event for several years and are excited to finally share it with our players,” stated Mark Moreland, Paizo’s Director of Brand.
A central point of the announcement was the death of Gorum, the God of War, which had been hinted at through several months of blog posts known as the Godsrain Prophecies. These posts systematically excluded other gods from the possibility of demise, leading up to the revelation of Gorum’s fate.
Upcoming Releases Linked to the Meta-Event
The flagship product is the “Pathfinder War of Immortals” rulebook, a 240-page hardcover introducing new mythic rules and two new classes: the animist and the exemplar. Scheduled for release in October 2024, the book will be available in standard, special edition, and pocket edition formats.
“Pathfinder Lost Omens: Divine Mysteries,” set for a November 2024 release, will delve into the altered divine hierarchy and introduce new deities and player options.
The storyline extends to other publications including “Pathfinder Adventure: Prey for Death” and the “Pathfinder Adventure Path: Curtain Call,” each integrating elements of the larger narrative.
Liane Merciel’s novel “Pathfinder: Godsrain,” due in November 2024, will explore the implications of Gorum’s death through the adventures of well-known Pathfinder characters.
Additionally, a playtest for two new military-focused classes begins on April 29, 2024, expanding the game’s offerings.
Paizo plans to reveal more details about the “War of Immortals” at PaizoCon, Gen Con, and on their monthly broadcast, Paizo LIVE. Audience members can stay updated by tuning into Paizo’s official Twitch channel and visiting their website.
