Rio Grande Games will release three train games this spring, including West Riding Revisited and Colorado Midland. Southern Pacific, also due out this spring, is the third (see “Rio Grande Takes a Ride on ‘Southern Pacific’”). All three were originally released direct-to-consumer by Winsome Games.
West Riding Revisited, designed by Han Heidema with art by Todd Sanders, is set in the early 1920s in the United Kingdom, when a post-World War I law required railways to combine into fewer companies. Players take the roles of investors, managers, and railway presidents and try to gain control and ownership of the railways. The game is for 3-6 players and plays in 30-60 minutes. MSRP is $44.95.
Colorado Midland, designed by famed train games designer John Bohrer with art by Todd Sanders, is set during a gold and silver rush in the Colorado Rockies. Players acting as mine owners try to get railroads to the mining districts, with shared incentives and alliances between players. The game is for 3-5 players and plays in less than an hour.
