Celesteela now appearing exclusively in five-star raids in the Southern Hemisphere and Kartana now appearing exclusively in five-star raids in the Northern Hemisphere during the Pokémon GO Sizeable Surprises event

Niantic is continuing to announce new events and content for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:

XXS and XXL Pokémon run the show while Celesteela and Kartana make their Shiny debut in raids.

Expand your collection of tiny and huge Pokémon during Pokémon GO’s Sizeable Surprises event, running from April 4 at 10:00 a.m. to April 9, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time. You can look forward to XXS and XXL Pokémon appearing more often in the wild—perfect for winning current and future PokéStop Showcases—and 2× Catch XP for Nice Throws or better.

If you have an eye for Shiny Pokémon, you’re in luck. Trainers are more likely to encounter Shiny Wailmer in the wild during this event, and they’ll be able to encounter Shiny Wimpod for the first time! You can earn extra encounters with Wailmer and Wimpod for completing Sizeable Suprises Collection Challenges.

The following Pokémon will appear more often during the event and are likely to be featured in a Showcase near you:

  • Diglett
  • Mantine
  • Wailmer
  • Joltik
  • Tynamo
  • Cutiefly
  • Wimpod
  • Cetoddle

Some Trainers might even encounter the notoriously large Snorlax and Onix in the wild! If you want to really go big (or small), though, a pair of Ultra Beasts will appear in raids during the Sizeable Surprises event. The towering Celesteela will appear exclusively in five-star raids in the Southern Hemisphere, and the small, slashing Kartana will appear exclusively in five-star raids in the Northern Hemisphere. Both can be encountered as Shiny Ultra Beasts for the first time in Pokémon GO!

These Pokémon can be challenged in raids during the event:

  • One-Star Raids
    • Foongus
    • Klink
    • Espurr
    • Tadbulb
  • Three-Star Raids
    • Alolan Exeggutor
    • Galarian Weezing
    • Gyarados
    • Snorlax
  • Five-Star Raids
    • Celesteela (Southern Hemisphere)
    • Kartana (Northern Hemisphere)
  • Mega Raids
    • Mega Charizard X

Enjoy a sizeable week of Pokémon GO, Trainers!
