The Old World Awakens: Orcs, Goblins, and Solar Auxilia Surge into Battle in Latest Games Workshop Preview

Games Workshop has recently unveiled an array of new products for both Warhammer: The Old World and Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, set to be available for pre-order next Saturday. This announcement has sparked interest across the Warhammer community, showcasing a broad mix of miniatures and gaming materials that cater to various aspects of the beloved franchise.

Warhammer: The Old World – Orcs and Goblins

For Warhammer: The Old World, a notable highlight is the introduction of a substantial Orcs and Goblins battalion box. This set includes 73 miniatures, encompassing 31 Orc Boyz, 40 Goblins, and two Orc Boar Chariots, along with new transfer sheets featuring numerous decals for customization.

Leadership for these forces is reinforced by the addition of a Black Orc Bigboss, an Orc Warboss on Wyvern, and a Troll Hag, each bringing unique capabilities and modeling opportunities. The release also celebrates the return of classic characters and units in both plastic and metal, ensuring long-time fans and collectors have plenty to engage with.

Solar Auxilia Reinforcements for The Horus Heresy

Turning to Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, the Solar Auxilia receives a significant boost with new infantry sections and armored units. The narrative of the Loyalist counter-attack in the Garmon Cluster is expanded in a comprehensive campaign supplement, introducing rules for incorporating Shattered Legions and Blackshields warbands into the fray.

The Solar Auxilia’s lineup is further diversified with the introduction of the Lasrifle Section, Tactical Command Section, Veletaris Storm Section, and several variants of the Malcador and Leman Russ tanks. The Aethon Heavy Sentinel joins the roster as a formidable support unit, equipped with a versatile array of weaponry.

Additional Offerings

In addition to miniatures, Games Workshop has announced the Arcane Journal: Orc & Goblin Tribes, a 48-page supplement that delves into the lore, history, and unique traits of these factions. Accompanying dice and card packs are designed to enhance gameplay, providing quick references and thematic flair.

The narrative dimension of the Warhammer universe is also expanded with the release of “Lord of Excess,” a novel that explores the dark ambitions of the Emperor’s Children and their quest for power.
