Steamforged Games has announced the release of a new edition of “Medici”, the auction board game, developed in partnership with the game designer Reiner Knizia. This edition brings updates to the classic game, known for its engaging gameplay set in the Renaissance period.
“Medici” is a game for 2-6 players, where participants take on the roles of merchants in 16th-century Florence. The objective is to acquire and sell goods such as cloth, spices, and grain at the market, with players bidding against each other to collect the most valuable cargo. Success in the game is measured in florins, with the wealthiest player at the end of three rounds declared the winner.
The latest edition of “Medici” retains the original gameplay while introducing visual and component upgrades. These enhancements aim to deepen the immersion into the historical setting of Florence, with updated artwork and new character designs. Each player receives a unique merchant character and a ship, represented by premium-quality tokens. Additionally, the game includes full-color printed wooden tokens and player aid cards to assist with game setup and play.
The new edition of “Medici” can be ordered through the Steamforged Games website. The company expresses enthusiasm for their collaboration with Knizia and the opportunity to update the game for new and existing fans.
