IDW Publishing has announced an expansion of its Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles publishing program in 2024, adding multiple new series and one-shots to the previously announced titles.
The newly announced projects are:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Black, White and Green, an indie anthology series featuring a variety of creators telling short stores using only black, white, and green. Creators on the series include Declan Shalvey, Paulina Ganucheau, Javier Rodriguez, and Jock. The first issue will be released on May 8.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Usagi Yojimbo: Saturday Morning Adventures is a one-shot oversize crossover by Erik Burnham and animation artist Jack Lawrence, inspired by the 1987 cartoon series. The A cover is by Lawrence, with a B cover by Chris Jones and a 1:25 incentive cover by Jon Sommariva.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Nightwatcher, by Juni Ba and Fero Pe, is a new ongoing series launching in August. The story features a new vigilante who rises up to combat the violence and discrimination against mutants.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Nation, by Tom Waltz, Sophie Campbell, and others, is a new ongoing series launching in August. Waltz, who is the co-writer of over 100 issues of the core title and The Last Ronin, plans to bring in an ensemble cast of additional characters, and settings, that have been introduced over the years.
Paramount renewed IDW’s license for the property earlier this year, marking the 40th anniversary of the franchise (see “IDW, Paramount Renew“). The current ongoing TMNT series is wrapping up with #150 in April (see “IDW to Wrap Up TMNT”), with a one-shot, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Alpha #1, in June, and a new ongoing series written by Jason Aaron launching in July (see “Aaron on ‘TMNT’ Relaunch Series“).
