Glass Cannon Unplugged, known for creating Frostpunk: The Board Game and Apex LegendsTM: The Board Game, in collaboration with Techland, is gearing up to launch a Kickstarter campaign for Dying Light: The Board Game. This new venture brings the popular parkour-survival video game to the tabletop, offering fans a chance to support the project starting February 27, 2024.
The game, designed by Przemysław Zub and Bartosz Tomala, is a cooperative narrative adventure for 1-4 players. Set in Villedor, the last city on Earth, players face the challenge of surviving against the Infected while navigating the complex demands of various ruling factions. Dying Light: The Board Game aims to deliver an engaging experience with an intuitive rule set adaptable to dynamic playstyles and narratives, featuring a distinctive parkour and combat system set against the backdrop of an expansive city map influenced by an impactful day and night cycle.
Key features of the game include a modular game board that vividly brings to life the cityscape of Villedor with double-sided board tiles and 3D structures, alongside interactive aids and hazards. The game’s mechanics allow players to transform basic actions like running, climbing, and jumping into strategic moves through the use of Action Dice.
Dying Light: The Board Game will offer two editions: the Standard Edition, which includes 76 standees with plastic base rings, and the Deluxe Version, featuring 76 high-quality plastic miniatures at a realistic scale of 32 mm. These miniatures represent characters within the game, including Runners, Bandits, Infected, and Large Infected Bosses.
A unique aspect of the game is its day and night cycle, which brings a dramatic shift in gameplay challenges and opportunities. This cycle is further enhanced by stickers for buildings that reveal content only under UV light.
An exclusive bonus for backers who pledge at the standard level or above within the first 24 hours of the campaign is a character pack for Kyle Crane, the protagonist of Dying Light. This pack includes a dedicated miniature, standee, character card, and a unique weapon, making him a fully playable character.
The creation of Dying Light: The Board Game marks the beginning of a long-term licensing partnership between Glass Cannon Unplugged and Techland, promising a modular gaming experience with several planned add-ons and expansions to enhance gameplay further.
