Pokémon GO Festival of Lights event features light-themed Pokémon, research, event bonuses and more, full event details revealed

Niantic is continuing to announce new events and content for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:

Brighten your day with light-themed Pokémon, research, event bonuses, and more.

The Pokémon GO Festival of Lights event runs through November 12, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time, offering a lasting light amidst darkening days. The Electric-type Tadbulb makes its illuminating Pokémon GO debut alongside its Evolution, Bellibolt. Net yourself some egg-cellent rewards with event bonuses like double Stardust and Candy for hatching Pokémon—and Incense used during the event will last twice as long.

Shed some light on important research questions with Timed Research focused on exploring and catching Pokémon. Complete the research to earn an event-exclusive shirt avatar item and encounters with event-themed Pokémon. Also, take on Field Research tasks to earn encounters with Darumaka, Morelull, and Tadbulb.

Throughout the Festival of Lights, the following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild.

  • Magnemite
  • Voltorb
  • Chinchou
  • Mareep
  • Slugma
  • Electrike
  • Litwick
  • Morelull

The Festival of Lights is happening soon in Pokémon GO, and you can look forward to encountering Tadbulb as it makes its Pokémon GO debut! Some Pokémon in the wild will also have a glowing effect at nighttime. Shine brightly with your Pokémon and celebrate!

Festival of Lights

Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time

Pokémon debuts

Tadbulb, the EleTadpole Pokémon, and its Evolution, Bellibolt, will make their Pokémon GO debuts!

Event bonuses

2× Stardust for hatching Pokémon.
2× Candy for hatching Pokémon.
Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last twice as long.

Timed Research

Event-exclusive Timed Research will be available throughout the event!

You’ll be able to complete Timed Research focused on exploring and catching Pokémon!

Complete the research tasks to earn an event-exclusive shirt avatar item and encounters with event-themed Pokémon.

Wild encounters

The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild.

Some Trainers might even encounter the following!

Eggs

The following Pokémon will hatch from 7 km Eggs. Also, Morelull hatched from Eggs will have a greater chance of being a Shiny Pokémon than Morelull found in the wild.

Increased Incense encounters

The following Pokémon will appear more frequently when Trainers use Incense.

Field Research task encounters

Festival of Light–themed Field Research tasks will be available!

The following Pokémon will be available to encounter when you complete Field Research tasks!

PokéStop Showcases

Be on the lookout for Showcases at different PokéStops during the Festival of Light where you can enter Litwick and Tadbulb!

New avatar item

The following new avatar item will be available to purchase in the in-game shop during this event and will continue to be available after the event ends!

Exclusive bonuses for Trainers in India

Trainers located in India can look forward to a special Collection Challenge that awards Stardust, XP, and an encounter with Tadbulb. They can also earn twice the Candy for catching Pokémon during the Festival of Lights event!

Also, look forward to a Raid Day on November 11!
