Hasbro Teases Three ‘D&D’ Series; ‘Echo,’ ‘Godzilla Minus One,’ and ‘Kingdom of the PotA’ Trailers; Disney Hulu Deal; Scout Options Two for Animated Series; Super Bowl Commercials Sell Out Early

Mariah Carey has been officially thawed out (see below), and Holiday season 2023 is on! The showbiz news is rolling in, so it’s time for another round-up!

Hasbro released teasers for three new original Dungeons & Dragons series: Encounter Party; Faster, Purple Worm! Kill! Kill! and Heroes’ Feast (see below).  These series were announced back in May, and will stream on the FAST channel (see “FAST Channel“) as well as  Amazon Freevee and Plex.

Marvel Studios released a new trailer for their Echo series (see below).  This series stars Alaqua Cox as Echo, Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin (see “‘Echo’ Series“), and will start streaming on January 10, 2023 via Disney+ and Hulu.

TOHO Co. LTD released the second trailers for Gozilla Minus One (see below). This Godzilla movie, directed by Takashi Yamazaki, will be in theaters on December 1, 2023 (see “‘Godzilla Minus One’“).

20th Century Studios unleashed a teaser trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (see below).  This movie, announced back in 2022 (see “Next ‘POTA’ Movie Set“), details Caesar’s reign as the apes become the dominant species on Earth.

Disney inked a deal with Comcast to purchase full control of Hulu, the company announced.  Disney will pay Comcast an estimated $8.61 billion for Comcast’s 33% stake in Hulu, and the deal is expected to close in 2024.  Disney previously acquired 21st Century Fox’s stake in Hulu in 2019 (see “Disney-Fox Deal Signed“) and WarnerMedia’s 10% minority stake a month later in the same year.

CBS has “virtually sold out” their ad inventory for Super Bowl LVII early, according to Variety.  CBS was looking to get $6.5 million to $7 million for a 30-second ad for the big game, in which commercials are a highlight for many viewers (see “Geek Super Bowl Ads“).  The quick sell-out can likely be attributed to Paramount’s strategy of offering a reasonable price increase for ads, according to the report.

Scout Comics & Entertainment has recently placed two IPs to be developed into animated series.  Kevin Hart’s HartBeat signed on to develop Ranger Stranger, which is a Scout comic about a deranged forest ranger in charge of Hackaneck National Park.  Rooster Teeth has optioned Jazz Legend, a neo noir book inspired by the works of Miles Davis.
