PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie takes the weekend box office as the top five is packed with new films

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Force

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Force was the top film at the weekend box office debuting with $23 million at the domestic box office. The film grossed a similar amount internationally with $24.4 million with a worldwide total of $47.4 million.

Saw X came in second with $18 million domestically and $11.3 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $29.3 million worldwide. That domestic opening was similar to the first film, better than Saw VI‘s $14.1 million, 2017’s Jigsaw‘s $16.6 million, and Spiral’s $8.8 million in 2021. So, while the amount seem low, it’s actually pretty on par with the franchise’s opening and would likely point to a similar $100 million gross by the time it’s over.

The Creator opened in third with $14 million domestically and $18.3 million internationally for a worldwide debut of $32.3 million. With a reported budget of $80 million, Disney has to be disappointed with the result and it’s a number fumble for the formal giant.

The Nun II tumbled from first place to fourth with an estimated gross with $4.7 million to bring its domestic total to $76.8 million. Over the week, the film grossed about $19.4 million internationally to bring that to $154.4 million. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $231.2 million.

Rounding out the top five was The Blind which debuted with just under $5 million domestically. No international total was reported.

In comic film news…

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem came in at #13 grossing $800,000 domestically bringing its domestic total to $117.5 million. Internationally, the movie added $2.8 million where it has now grossed $59.2 million. Worldwide, the movie has brought in $176.7 million.

Blue Beetle came in at #15 with $710,000. Domestically, it has now grossed $71 million. Internationally it added $2.7 million to the gross bringing that to $55.8 million. The movie has grossed $126.8 million worldwide.

Shortcomings, based on the graphic novel by Adrian Tomine grossed about $6,300 over the week domestically to bring its total to $672,791. There’s now some international gross reported of $9,284, and increase of about $3,100. Worldwide, the film has grossed $682,075.
