Lucky Duck Games will soon release its competitive deduction party game Paranormal Detectives.
In Paranormal Detectives, one player assumes the role of the ghostly victim of a crime which the other players, acting as detectives, must try to solve using their paranormal abilities to communicate with the ghost and uncover clues. The ghost can communicate the answers by manipulating the tarot cards and talking board, holding a detective’s hand, and other tricks. The first detective to successfully deduce the crime wins the game.
First, the ghost draws a story card with all of the details of the crime. The detectives each get their own set of asymmetrical interaction cards. Each turn, the acting detective plays one of their cards to determine how the ghost can answer their question. When they make a guess about the crime, the ghost secretly records how many correct guesses they have made, giving them clues about the true story.
Paranormal Detectives comes with 1 main game board, 17 tarot cards, 66 other cards, 5 detective screens, 5 detective sheets, 1 quill pen sheet, 18 markers, 6 pens, and 2 Hangman’s Knot ropes. The game is intended for 2 to 6 players, ages 12 and up, and takes a little over half an hour to play. MSRP is $39.99.
Next month, Lucky Duck will release Paper App Dungeon (see “Crawl Through Dungeons on the Go with ‘Paper App Dungeon’”).
