Two Publishers Announce New Printings After Titles Sell Out at Distributor Level

Image Comics and FairSquare Comics, a large publisher and a small one, have both announced sellouts at the distributor level.

Image has sent the first four issues of W0rldtr33, by James Tynion IV and Fernando Blanco, back to press, with the new printings due in stores on September 27, 2023.  The first issue is going into its fifth printing, with unit sales for that issue totaling over 150,000.  This is the second of Tynion IV’s Image comics to go to a fifth printing: In 2020, the first issue of Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds’ The Department of Truth went back to press with over 100,000 orders (see “‘Department of Truth’ Sells Out”).

Previous Image sellouts include Spawn’s Universe #1, with sales of over 200,000 in June 2021 (see “Strong Sales for ‘Spawn’s Universe’ #1”); Spawn #300 with orders of over 265,000 in September 2019; and in September 2020,  Fire Power #1, with orders of over 200,000 copies and Spawn #310, with over 100,000 (see “Image Hits Six-Figure Print Runs on Two Current Comics”).

FairSquare Comics, a small press helmed by former Humanoids Senior Editor Fabrice Sapolsky (see “Diamond Book Signs Fairsquare”), announced that four of its graphic novels have sold out at the distributor level.  The anthology Noir Is the New Black sold out its second printing for a total of 5,000 orders.  A third edition is planned for February 2024.  A Boy Named Rose sold out in 30 days; Ultralazer sold out in two weeks; and Not a New York Love Story, released to the direct market on August 23, sold out at the distributor level before its scheduled release to the book channel on September 5.  All three are being reprinted.Source: ICv2
