Capstone Games announced Match of the Century, a new chess-themed board gameby Paolo Mori, which is now on preorder.
This board game is a simulation of the final match of the 1972 World Chess Championship in Reykjavik, Iceland between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky. Players battle each other in a series of games that simulate a real chess championship match. Each game lasts only a few short turns, and are played out via two asymmetric decks of cards, one for Spassky and one for Fischer. In the end, only one player can win the most important sports event of the Cold War and bring glory to their country.
Match of the Century is for two players and plays in 30 to 24 minutes. It will retail for $34.95.
Capstone Games has also announced the first “big box” expansion for its hit game Ark Nova. Ark Nova: Marine Worlds is set to release in October (see “‘Marine Worlds’“).
