Keymaster Games will be releasing Chicken!, a dice game created by Scott Almes (Tiny Epic Galaxies, Warp’s Edge), on September 6.
Chicken! is a push-your-luck style dice game where players try to score points by “hatching” chickens through the roll of the dice. Players take turns rolling a shared pool of dice, trying to avoid foxes that can nullify their score. Points are awarded for every chicken rolled, and new dice are added to the dice pool for every egg icon before the dice are passed to the next player. If a player feels that the dice pool has grown too large, they can “chicken out” and reset the dice pool to the original four dice instead of rolling for points.
The game features graphics and illustrations from Carpenter Collective and includes 12 engraved dice, 8 screen-printed player tokens, and a linen cloth game board. It is packaged in a sturdy tube roughly the size of a large soda pop can, which is designed to double as a dice cup during play. Chicken! is intended for 2 to 8 players, ages 10 and up, and plays in about 15 minutes. MSRP is $20.00. An Eggspansion! set with two additional dice and Wood Scenery upgrade set will also be available.

Keymaster raised funds for the production of the game through a Kickstarter campaign last November that attracted $194,675 in pledges from 5,889 backers (an average of $33.06 per backer).
The company recently released a new expansion to its Parks game (see “Keymaster Unveils ‘Parks: Wildlife’”) as well as the stand-alone spinoff Trails (see “The ‘Parks’ Series Hits the ‘Trails’”).
