Celebrate Squirtle this Community Day Classic with special event bonuses and turtle-y awesome Field Research.

Get into the spirit of Pokémon GO’s 7th Anniversary with a spe-shell Community Day Classic featuring Squirtle, Pokémon No. 0007. On July 9, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, Squirtle can be found waddling around the wild with greater frequency, and Trainers might even encounter a Shiny Squirtle—if they’re lucky! Surf on over to take on Squirtle-themed research tasks for a chance to squad up with Squirtle wearing sunglasses. If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny one!

Trainers that evolve Squirtle’s Evolution, Wartortle, during the event or up to two hours afterward will get a Blastoise that knows the Water-type Charged Attack Hydro Cannon, which can only be learned during special events or by using an Elite Charged TM. Blastoise has plenty of Charged Attacks to choose from, but if you’re looking to use this Pokémon in raids or the GO Battle League, Hydro Cannon is one of its best.

Blastoise is also one of the many Pokémon in Pokémon GO that can Mega Evolve, which means training up an extra-tough Blastoise can give you an edge in Raid Battles that need a powerful Water-type Pokémon. When Mega Blastoise is battling in a raid, Water-type attacks from all Trainers’ Pokémon deal increased damage. And if you already have a Blastoise (or any other Water-type Pokémon) that can Mega Evolve, be sure to Mega Evolve it during this Community Day Classic for bonus Candy when you catch Squirtle or any other Water-type Pokémon!

The following bonuses will be active during the event.

  • 1/4 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator during the event period.
  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Take a few snapshots during Community Day Classic for a surprise.

Shell-ebrate Squirtle with the Squirtle Community Day Classic Special Research story, which is available for US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing in your local currency). And don’t forget that Trainers can purchase tickets for friends that they’ve reached a friendship level of Great Friends or higher with. To give the gift of research, simply tap the “Gift” button instead of the “Buy” button.

Have a blast, Trainers!
