The Certified Guaranty Company (CGC), which grades comic books, is offering special labels designed by students at the Ringling College of Art and Design, and the proceeds from the sale of those labels will go to the nonprofit ComicBooks For Kids.
For the third year in a row, CGC held a contest for Ringling students to design the labels, with the top three entries getting cash prizes; the three winners this year were Kaya Lewis, Lizzie Christie, and Emily Maradiaga. The custom labels are available, for a limited time only, for $5 to CGC customers whose books are being graded, with the proceeds going to ComicBooks For Kids.
ComicBooks For Kids (CB4K) donates comics to children in hospitals and cancer centers, and its sister organization ComicBooks For Troops does the same for members of the military. The organization raises funds in a variety of ways, including, recently, collaborating with DC on a comic (see “DC, ComicBooks For Kids Team Up for Special Edition of ‘Superman’ #39”).
