Hollywood news is keeps trickling in, and it’s time for another round-up!
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the first Indiana Jones film since the Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm, opened to a disappointing $60 million box office domestically and $130 million with the rest of the world included, according to Deadline. The global take is less than half what Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull pulled in its first weekend ($272.1 million worldwide, see “Indy Grabs B.O. Treasure“), and less domestically than the latest Transformers film this year ($61 million, see “Weekend Box Office Winner“). What’s worse for Disney, the film reportedly cost $250-$300 million to make, before marketing costs of $100 million.
DC Studios has found a new Lois Lane and Clark Kent for Superman: Legacy, according to Deadline. David Corenswet will become the next Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan will co-star as Lois Lane. James Gunn will direct this movie, and it will be the first title on the Gunn/Safran slate of DC movies (see “‘Superman: Legacy’“).
Universal Pictures released an official trailer for Five Night’s at Freddy’s (see below). This movie will hit theaters, as well as begin streaming on Peacock, on October 27, 2023. Universal had previously released teasers for this movie (see “Teasers for ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s“).
Warner Bros. Pictures revealed a second trailer for Dune Part Two (see below). This film is set for release November 3, 2023 (see “’Dune’ Sequel Moved Up“).
Max released a trailer for My Adventures with Superman (see below). This animated series will feature a Black Jimmy Olsen (see “The Issue with Superman“) and start streaming on July 6, 2023.
Warner Bros. Animation announced two new animated series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They announced Creature Commandos, based on a concept that came from Weird War Tales #93 which later evolved into the Creature Commandos comic miniseries in 2000, to stream on Max, as well as an adaptation of Joel Rose and Anthony Bourdain’s Get Jiro! GN (see “Valiant, Vertigo Get National Coverage“) for Adult Swim.
