Mad Cave to Publish OGNs Based on Animated Series; Full-Length Film to Premiere in July 2023
Mad Cave Studios has struck a deal with the animation studio Zag to publish graphic novels based on its animated series Miraculous. Mad Cave will publish the graphic novels under its Papercutz middle-grade and Maverick YA imprints, with the first releases due out in 2024.
The animated series is set in Paris and follows two teenagers, Marinette and Adrien, who transform into the superheroes Ladybug and Cat Noir. It is available on Netflix and Disney+, and five seasons have been released so far. The animated film Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir will premiere on Netflix on July 28, 2023.
Kodansha has licensed the manga adaptation of the series (see “Kodansha Licenses Ladybug & Chat Noir Manga”). In 2016, Action Lab launched its own comics and graphic novels (see “Action Lab to Publish ‘Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir’ Comics”), which it published until 2020, and they also released a CCG based on the property (see “‘Miraculous’ Gets Collectible Card Game”).
