Rio Grande Games will soon release two titles from prolific designer Friedemann Friese (Power Grid, Friday): Black Friday and Faiyum: Privileges
Black Friday is a revised and updated version of the 2010 game of the same name. In the game, players become stock traders in a bubble market, trying to get rich and get out before the looming crash through buying and selling stock before ultimately shifting to crash-resistant metals. The game also features an autonomous opponent called “M.I.B.S.” or “minimally intelligent broker service” that players can also compete against.
For 2 to 5 players. Plays in around an hour. MSRP is $49.95.
Faiyum: Privileges is an expansion for Faiyum, released in 2021 (see “Trio of Titles Announced by Rio Grande”). Adding this expansion allows players to acquire “privileges” that can grant one-time or permanent advantages that expand their strategic options. Privileges are played separately from the cards in the players’ hands, instead modifying the effects of other cards or granting additional actions.
As an expansion, requires the core game to play. Adds 42 cards and 15 wooden tokens. MSRP is $19.95.
Rio Grande released Friese’s Fancy Feathers last winter (see “Rio Grande Games Reveals its ‘Fancy Feathers’”).
The company plans to release John Bohrer’s Prussian Rails this summer (see “Build Up the ‘Prussian Rails’”).
